Our Story

A Legacy of Faith — From 1877 to Today

The historic seminary building, Gujranwala

The historic seminary building in Gujranwala — United Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Lendrum Memorial (A.D. 1912) — a testament to the enduring faith of those who came before us.

Faith Theological Seminary has its roots in the United Presbyterian Theological Seminary, founded in 1877 — making this institution part of one of the oldest traditions of theological education in South Asia.

In 1968, on September 24th — Reformation Day — Faith Theological Seminary was formally established by the late Dr. K. L. Nasir, a renowned Christian leader and scholar whose influence extended across South Asia and the United States. The establishment came following a principled stand on matters of confessional integrity — specifically the Westminster Confession, the authority of the KJV, and Reformed Presbyterian distinctives — leading to the founding of a seminary committed to orthodox, Scripture-grounded theological education.

Dr. K. L. Nasir not only founded Faith Theological Seminary but led the reformation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Pakistan, shaping the theological direction of Pakistani Christianity for generations to come.

Six Generations of Service

The Nasir Family — Builders of God’s Kingdom in Pakistan

The story of Faith Theological Seminary is inseparable from the story of the Nasir family — six generations of faithful Christian service stretching from the 19th century to today.

It began with Elder Roshan Lall Nasir, and continued through his son Rev. Boota Mall, who served the church with distinction in the early years of Pakistani Christianity.

The legacy reached its most visible expression in Dr. K. L. Nasir — founder of Faith Theological Seminary, renowned scholar, and architect of the Reformed Presbyterian movement in Pakistan, whose influence was felt as far as the United States.

His son — a Bishop and retired Major of the Pakistan Army — served as Moderator and Bishop of the United Presbyterian Church Pakistan and as Principal of Faith Theological Seminary, bringing both military discipline and pastoral wisdom to institutional leadership.

The next generation continued the calling: the late Rev. Sharoon T. Nasir gave his life in service to the Lord (Moderator of UP Church Pakistan, 2011–2016), and Rev. Dr. Shaleem T. Nasir (currently in Germany) has carried the theological tradition internationally. Their brother, the late Elder Kamil Nasir, served faithfully as Seminary Administrator from 2011 to 2026 and as Moderator of the United Presbyterian Church Pakistan.

Today the legacy continues with Mrs. Ambreen Kamil Nasir serving as the current Administrator, and Elder Kundan Lall Nasir jr., ordained on Palm Sunday 2026, serving as Registrar of the very institution his great-grandfather founded — the sixth generation of his family in a ministry that has shaped Pakistani Christianity for over 150 years.

What We Believe

Statement of Faith

Grounded in historic Christian orthodoxy.

The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal.
The Person of Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
Salvation
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and is empowered for witness and service.
The Church
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, comprising all true believers worldwide, and in the importance of the local church for worship, fellowship, and mission.
The Second Coming
We believe in the blessed hope of the personal, visible return of Christ to receive His church and to judge the world in righteousness.
